A company specialised in the production of cast iron pumps needed an effective industrial paint stripping solution to remove paint from tools and equipment used in its painting line, completely avoiding solvents, flammable substances and VOC emissions.
Customer challenge: removing industrial paint without solvents
The customer needed to carry out the paint stripping of brackets, hooks and steel components coming from the powder coating process, with the objective of:
- completely removing paint residues
- reducing process times and operating costs
- avoiding hazardous substances and VOCs
- making components reusable in a short time
The solution: ultrasonic cleaning combined with spray washing
To solve this challenge, Teknox implemented a combined cleaning system consisting of:
The K200 ultrasonic cleaning system was filled with water and a specific chemical solution:
- Paintstripper A1 at 1%
- Paintstripper B3 at 3%
The combined action of 38 kHz ultrasonic waves, chemical action and controlled temperature allowed complete removal of paint from metal surfaces.
After ultrasonic treatment, the components were rinsed in the Simplex 120 spray washing machine, ensuring complete removal of loosened paint residues and contaminants.
Technical features of the industrial paint stripping process
The customised paint removal process included:
- 38 kHz ultrasonic cleaning technology
- heating system with non-immersed heating elements
- oil skimming system in a separate side tank
- immersion and dripping cycle
- productivity of 2–4 cycles per hour
- manual loading and unloading using baskets
Results achieved
The implementation of the ultrasonic paint stripping system provided significant advantages:
- complete removal of paint residues
- significant reduction in processing times and costs
- faster reuse of painting equipment
- improved efficiency of maintenance operations
Advantages of the solvent-free paint removal solution
The combined use of ultrasonic cleaning and spray washing provided several benefits:
- environmentally friendly process without solvents
- improved safety for operators and the working environment
- compatibility with different types of industrial paints
- high cleaning efficiency and process repeatability
The combination of the K200 ultrasonic parts cleaner and the Simplex 120 spray washing system enabled the customer to achieve an effective, safe and sustainable industrial paint stripping process.
The customised solution improved productivity, reduced operating costs and minimised environmental impact by eliminating the need for solvents and hazardous substances.
